About the climber: Shanjeevan Amalanathan

Shanjeevan, from Sri Lanka, is an adventure traveler, social activist, and marine conservationist. He is deeply committed to making a positive impact and uses his adventurous journeys to support meaningful social causes.

Since 2019, Shanjeevan has dedicated himself to taking on one adventure each year, with every expedition focused on promoting a different social cause. His journey began in 2019 with a cross-country walk across Sri Lanka to advocate for peace. He then climbed Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe, to raise awareness about climate change. In 2021, he swam across Kallady Bridge to bring attention to suicide awareness. In 2022, he cycled around Sri Lanka to advocate for marine conservation. Most recently, he climbed the top 10 mountains in Sri Lanka to promote gender equality. Each of these adventures reflects his dedication to combining personal challenges with social impact.

Shanjeevan's commitment to social causes is also shown through his involvement in various organizations and youth councils. He has served as a Children Parliamentarian for one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is actively involved as a Financial Coordinator and member of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Youth Council in Manmunai North. Over the years, he has worked with and volunteered for many social organizations, INGOs, and NGOs. Some of the notable organizations he has collaborated with include Play for Peace, Scouts, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, DreamSpace Academy, St. John's Ambulance, SUNFO Global Federation, Red Cross, Trash for Trade, Coastal Nomads, Sri Lanka Sub-Aqua Club, Center for Peacebuilding and Reconciliation, BookBridge, and Oceanswell.

With his wide range of experiences and extensive involvement in social initiatives, Shanjeevan brings valuable knowledge, skills, and a strong passion for creating positive change. His dedication to advocating for causes such as peace, climate change, suicide awareness, marine conservation, and gender equality aligns perfectly with the mission and goals of the 'Summit Sustainability: Scaling Seven Peaks for a Sustainable Future' project. His experiences, combined with his determination, spirit, and unwavering commitment, make him a key asset to this initiative.
